awful, watched the aftermath on TV......credit to both sets of fans btw, great response! think the fact that the lad did not die at the scene is something to hold on to...and is testement to the medical staff at WHL.....hope the lad can pull through
terrible news and i understand he is still critcal at the moment :( i used to do cycle racing and compete at amatuer level and we had very strict rules on training and level of intensity for the under 18's This was due to the fact that your body, especialy your heart, which is a muscle have not fully developed yet so high intensity training or interval training was forbiden and also there would be gear restrictions in races so all you had really was your natural ability when competing. Footbal by nature is high intensity ie short busrts and then rest which puts a load on the heart so its very important that young fooballers are not doing too much of this type of training untill there bodies are ready for it. Something definitely the FA need to look at.
