The misses bought me this as surprise for Christmas, quite happy she did too as I am half way through and there is genuine laugh out loud moments within the book.

Flying through it though - after reading the Lost Revolution which was 600 pages, heavy on incident, dates and events this is like doing my abc in comparison. Still a great read, probably credit to the author that I'm cruising through it. Paints a real vivid picture. And you're right - those climbers are a different breed.

More Browsing Than Reading This..

Just finished the first five books of the Game of thrones/Song of fire an ice series. Excellent stuff.

Now working on the DMZ graphic novels.

Mr Wakefield's Crusade; a recommendation from a friend that I am struggling to get to grips with. So I have ordered The Great Gatsby instead.

If anyone's looking for a book, I can't recommend Lucky Jim by Kingsley Amis high enough. The funniest book I have ever read, ever.

Full Time - Tony Cascarino's life story really. Big Cas was a run of the mill footballer and I wouldn't imagine he brings back great memories to fans of Villa, Celtic or Chelsea. This book though is quite a read. Honest, in fact, way too, honest and there's times when you read it you say to yourself please stop Tony. Much prefer reading books by ex players rather than those still playing - this is an interesting read, of a similar ilk to that of Steve Claridge in it's honesty and fascinating, almost incredulous stories. Shadow written by a guy called Paul Kimmage who has gone onto to write some belters.

The Fall of Yugoslavia - saw this recommended by fellow fourmite Kuriousornaje and took note. A subject that interests me but I know very little about. Hopefully this book, which has gotten great reviews everywhere, will change that.

Read the Cascarino book what seems like about 15 years ago now; can that be right? It's a belter. You may want to try Left Foot Forward by Gary Nelson too. Very well written, honest account of life as a lower division pro.

Cheers - must add that one to my wishlist. Sounds a whole lot better than reading 'My defence' by Ashley Cole or Theo Walcott's autobiography.
