Let's see classic British football grounds. Not this soulless corporate bullshit that every seems to want to have these days.

My favorite is the Dell. I even think they had a chimney in the ground! Classic!

My favourite classic football stadium was probably Roker Park. I never went but I clearly remember watching sunderland play on TV in about 94/95, they scored and there's an image fixed in my mind of the banked stand behind the goal going absolutely nuts - it's an image that really stuck with me.



Growing up in Scotland I was 'lucky' to visit a lot of terraced stadiums when hibs got relegated. We were top of the league and taking 3-5,000 away fans for a lot of games, which in first division terms are huge numbers. Going to places like Dundee, Dunfermline and Greenock was in many ways a great experience and a bit of insight into the old days.

The old Easter Road is below, the East Stand (on the left) must have been some sight when we were getting upwards of 50k

Think of all the modern grounds I've been to the only one that's left a real lasting impression was Ibrox, love how they've kept the facade around the main stand despite it being an all seater stadium:

Little touches like that make all the differences whereas places like the Reebok, the JJB/DW/whoever else is sponsoring it are just soulless bowls

Cricket at Bramall Lane 1961

Bit of history:
The world's first football tournament, the Youdan Cup, held its final at Bramall Lane in March 1867 with Hallam beating Norfolk.
The worlds first ever floodlit football match took place at Bramall Lane on 14 October 1878 in front of an attendance of 20,000
England's match against Scotland on 10 March 1883 was the first match between these two countries outside London or Glasgow.
It is the oldest major stadium in the world still to be hosting professional football matches
Bramall Lane is one of only two grounds (the other being the Oval) which has hosted England football internationals (five games prior to 1930), an England cricket test match in 1902 against Australia and a FA Cup Final Replay in 1912, when Barnsley beat West Bromwich Albion 1–0.

Looking at old pictures of how our stadiums once were makes me sad.

Spent a few hours stood on here in the 80s.

gutted when we left here.

had to laugh when a hibby thought it would be amazing to see 52k on the east stand. I think the board would have been more amazed. Hibs since ive known them[1977]get 12/15k at best. when was this 52k ,in 1949. Aberdeen record crowd was 48k in 1946 or something but lets face it since the 60;s weve been getting 14k average at best

our highest crowd was 65k or so against hearts in the 50s. for a few years we averaged over 50k. Don't disagree we havent had anything like that since then and haven't claimed to. You disagreeing that it would be 'amazing' to see a scottish ground outside the old firm getting those crowds?

Burnden Park home of Bolton. It was a shit hole but had real character and atmosphere.

coudlnt find any decent pcitures but our old ground used to be the best in Holland. Scariest away for sure! Some youtub link;
