Call Rooney a cunt for his past misdemeanors all you want but please don't call him a cunt for swearing. How sterile and sanatized do you want football to be?
Seen on other message boards calls for him to be banned which I find bemusing. Let him swear away if he keeps doing the business on the pitch. Despite a quiet season on the pitch he's still one of the reasons United are gonna win the league - THAT bicycle kick against Citeh would be beyond the comprehension of almost all footballers in the Premiership and yesterday's hat trick, when you really needed him do stand up and be counted he did the biz. Could you imagine Torres or Anelka scoring a hat trick for Chelsea if they were two down and in the mire? Thought not.
As a player I think he's absolute class. Never hides or goes missing in games. But I think his discipline will get much worse when Ferguson eventually leaves old stratford
mmmmm.....some good points made....and some not so good Forget about how good a player he is, how big a dickhead he is, how big a game it was, the tension, the relief, etc.....as those are all excuses for why it happened and thus irrelevant. The question is whether he did anything wrong as if it's wrong - then saying it only happened 'cause it was a big game' begins to excuse the actions on a given circumstance. And that then becomes bollox.
Bottom line is....Is it okay to swear agressively into the camera? regardless of circumstances, is it okay? I think someone joyfully shouting 'get Fucking in there' or words to that effect would have been overlooked but searching out the camera to spit bile down it? what happens if it becomes a trend then? That's good. Ban supporters from singing dodgy songs but allow players to spout the 'F' word down the camera to the watching kids. Some grounds these days, a supporter doing that would be removed. And why the the anger? Because the Pikeys were giving him a bit of lip? or he doesn't like the media slaughtering him when he's playing rubbish? Please don't tell me Shrek feels hard done by?????? Sorry, I forgot, he's lowering himself playing with these Utd players who basically aren't fit to lace his boots so perhaps his shoulders are sore carrying them all. I could draw comparisons with how much Drogba was slaughtered after watching us undertake the closest thing I've seen to being cheated in a football match (if you think I'm exaggerating, have a look for example at Ballacks 94th minute penalty appeal in that Barca match against the one Utd got on Saturday - and that's before we get to other even more blatant decisions in that Barca game....) Not too many excused his 'it's a fuckin disgrace' outburst. And as for those who said 'he's their kind of player' good luck to you. I'd sooner have Gianfranco Zola. Played the game in the right way and I can only presume losing hurt him every bit as much as Rooney. But he had something else going for him. That is, he was a class act all around. Not an overpaid chav who'd needed a mid season break in the US to give his manager time to mend the bridges he'd burnt with his selfish antics.

You are spot on there, could not have put it better myself.Does not bother me Rooney swearing because all players do it but to do it full on in to the camera is too much.He has had a poor season by his standards & was no doubt happy that he had a good game for a change, still does not excuse his poor behaviour.

I'm not defending Rooney because he is a chav cunt from shithouse stock. But I refuse to slaughter him because he swore at a camera. Was it a clever thing to do? No of course not, but it doesn't deserve all this media bollocks it is getting. He'd just scored a hat-trick in 15 minutes after United were 2-0 down. If it was an unknown player from the lower leagues it wouldn't even be reported. One minute people moan about how shit football has become and how there is no passion anymore and yet as soon as someone loses his emotions in the heat of a match he should be banned for 10 games.
I'm just wish Rooney had taken an air rifle into Carrington and shot one of the United youngsters instead, be less mass hysteria in the media.

so you think it's fine to swear directly into the camera during a televised live game with a contorted, aggressive face? Your prerogative. You call it 'passion'. I call it being a twat. Presumably, if it was an unknown from the lower leagues he wouldn't be getting 200k a week with image rights either. Nor have his own 'Street Striker' program on SKY. you say 'losing his emotions' like this was a one off. He seems fairly handy at losing his emotions does Wayne. as for the Ashley cole analogy? I'm lost. I saw 4 daily newspapers with that story front page news not to mention the tv media so not sure what point you're making? Ashley is 'heavyweight Champion of the World' when it comes to making the front page news for non-footballing reasons....

I find it amusing how United fans bang on about how much they hate Scousers but love Rooney, who shit on his team mates earlier on in the season as pointed out by RamseesCFC.Pot,kettle, black springs to mind
Rooney banned for two games. Ahahahahahahahaha YCNMIU
mkj1972 - The term 'scousers' when used by United fans usually relates to anything LFC. Ex-LFC players who are not Liverpudlians are described as 'scousers'. It is called rivalry. Not all United fans 'love' Rooney and a lot will never forgive him for what he did.

Read my post, I said Rooney was wrong for swearing but didn't deserve this 'outcry' in the media.
As for Ashley Cole, shot someone at work - brushed under carpet, Rooney swears into camera and gets two match ban.

Valid point tbf and I agree, swearing at the camera doesn't warrant the attention its got it the media but its not right. Thing is I just can't grasp the thick shit never seems to learn from his mistakes. He should consider himself lucky that he has this god given talent and without a doubt is one of the most gifted players on the planet imo but as a person he just seems a total cunt. Probably not helped by the people around him but saying that in Giggs & Scholes he has two team mates who seem to me to be the model professionals. Bearing in mind how many young children look up to him and idolise him he really should have a long look at himself ( as should many a footballer I might add ), maybe the loss of sponsorship from Nike, EA Sports and whoever else may give him a wake up call ( as his Mrs leaving him probably would have done ) , I can't ever see Utd coming down hard on him as I think they are scared he'll clear off. Can't see him changing his ways now he's too dumb but sooner or later it will catch up with him, the guys a complete prick!
Giggs & Scholes legends,Rooney is not fit to lace their boots.Hes a big time charlie who proved earlier on in the season shitting on his team mates & fans what a cunt he is.
