downloaded a few over the past few months and these are the ones i really like:
rebirth (ipad and iphone, ipad is miles better but i bought the iphone one too cos im an idiot, resolution on iphone is bad, fine on ipad though) - this is superb once you get past the fiddliness. recreation of an old computer programme which itself recreated the old roland 303 bass sampler (theres two on the app), as well as the roland 808 and 909 drum machies. loads of pattern banks and a full song recording mode so you can fart about for hours. the sounds are incredible on this - if you like your acid house noodling noises you'll love it. same with technobox (iphone), which is a similar programme with the same bass and drums, but not quite as advanced. very easy to use though and the sounds are ace. the fx are especially good. nanostudio - sequencer, synth, drum machine, sampler for iphone - brilliant but, again, the controls are fiddly but its easy to get a good racket going on it. abotu £8 i think so not cheap but i'd say worth it funkbox - this is fantastic since the new version come out. its a drum machine for the iphone which recreates 808, 909, 606, cr78, mrk-2, er-1 (electribe), md-sps1, tr77, linn drum machines. now id never heard of half of these but they sound good and you can email the loops to yourself to use in music software like repaer, cubase, whatever. argon synth for iphone - funny sounding mono analog-type synth. only messed with this but i like the sounds. has a sequencer on it but ive not tried that. db303 - another roland 303 emulator. this one also has separate distortion and delay 'pedals' - again good for farting about with. korg ims20 - this is amazing. full (i think) recreation of an old korg analogue synth (the ms20). ace old sounds and recreates the patch and wires way of changing the sounds by having them on screen, you just drag from port to port and mess about. drum machine, sequencer, synth. the interface is a bit of a chore and ive still not really got to grips with it but still think its brilliant. with this one (and nanostudio) you can plug a korg synth in (maybe others i dont know, i use a microkorg) to control through the synth midi ports or you can use a usb keyboard through the camera connection kit. i use an akai mpk mini whihc has a keyboard and pads on it. its ace.
and yes, i do wear spectacles and find it hard to talk to girls.
Great round up. I love nanostudio but wouldn't mind a few more. I used to have rebirth on the pc and fancy it for the iPad. I'm only reticent because I remember it being a bit painstaking and I like the speed at which you can mess around on nano. Might be better with the touch interface though? Definitely a classic though if you like your acid sounds ! There's a new kraftwerk one as well apparently which is next on my list. A fiver but it's kratwerk, gotta give it a go . Gonna get some off your list as well , cheers

seen that kraftwerk one, looks interesting. its easy to get started on rebirth but then its a bit of a chore building stuff up, but the sounds are fantastic. and like i say, a lot easier to use on ipad. id really recommend funkbox - about a quid i think. agree on nano though, you can knock up a half decent track of drums, bass and a couple of lead sounds in a few minutes.
