will be spending a week in the big smoke during August and want to check out a few boozers whilst I'm over - normally only get to places within 15 minutes walk of Stamford Bridge. Wanna give yer 'superpub' bollox a swerve so any recommendations gratefully received, I'm more of a sawdust on the floor type of fellah. Fulham/Chelsea/Shepherds Bush/Hammersmith areas although not limited to those areas either.
the churchill in notting hill is worth a look, bit of a touristy place but the ale is good and the bar itself is really smart. Theres a place near craven cottage by bishops park that is excellent, really large beer garden and a bbq. It's killing me that i cant remember the name but reckon turnstyle (fulham fan) will know the one. Has a great selection of rotating ales.

Slàinte!
Forget Fulham and Chelsea as all the pubs around there have been poncified and turned into gastro pubs...the only decent pubs I can think of near Stamford Bridge are the Jolly Maltsters and a couple down North End Road ..... You would be better off in the Bush or Hammersmith or maybe Wandsworth as the pubs aren't too poncified yet, a bit longer to get to Stamford Bridge though. We normally drink in Putney....few good pubs there....the Bricklayers Arms, Waterman Street, the Whistle and Flute on Putney High St or The Fox on Upper Richmond Road....it's probably the worst part of London to find good old fashioned boozers that haven't been gastroed for Giles and Sophie
Dirty old river, must you keep rolling, Flowing into the night.......
