Quote by STEVECFCapart from not scoring , I wouldn't say Torres is playing bad ... one thing is his first touch at times is awful ...
Think the first touch is one of the most important things in modern day football. He used to have a great one, but something set him back. Think he'll come round eventually, banging goals in again.

I really don't see enough of him to form my own opinion. I only ever see him on MOTD and that seems to be getting worse.
He seems to get slagged a lot on forums and the press but I should know better than believe either of them.
I just know I've seen a bit of Carroll recently and he's been looking ridiculously bad.
AS you say, ignore the press and the '50 million waste of money' lobby and form your own opinion. I watched him pre season at rangers and he played well. THe next day, the lazy match reports sounded like a different game. ALl because he didn't score.... ANd ancellotti was right. HE'll benefit from drogba not bein around the club. PArt of the problem is that his body language at times looks all wrong. Maybe because he doesn't run around like a rooney or tevez chasing the ball.

It's his finishing Glenn, isn't it? At the moment he looks head and shoulders ahead of any other Chelsea player in terms of technique, awareness, class on the ball - OUTSIDE OF THE BOX (and I include Mata in that, a tad underwhelmed by him if I'm being honest). Torres has almost a dozen assists to his name thus fat this season but he wasn't signed to provide assists. His brief is to score goals and he fails time and time and time again. I don't buy this shit that he's crap because that overhead against Sunderland could only have been executed by a maximum of 5 player in the top flight. Such a shame, I like him, we never see anything him in the papers and he just gets on with things. However, were he to go between now and the end of the season scoring no more than a goal or two (which is a massive possibility) you'd have to think his Chelsea career will be in the balance, at the very least. A team who wants to be competing for the big prizes can't afford their number 9 to be a non scoring centre forward. The fact that none of Chelsea's central midfielders are the type to play defence splitting passes on a regular basis doesn't help, nor does the lack of a top class wide man. Mata is wasted out wide and isn't a pacey player, he's a number 10 or an old style inside forward. Huge rebuilding job to the done at Chelsea. I really hope it works out for Torres but I just can't see it.
And let's be honest - the whole Torres thing is highlighted so much because the a conservative media who can't see past the so-called establishment of English football (like you say even when he plays well he gets hammer more often than not) is because he left one of the the established clubs to join the great upstarts of the English game and they didn't like it.

Yeah, that's it Colm. There was one time yesterday were he skipped past two players on the right side and played a lovely ball. WAs a class bit of play. He seems much more confident outside the box as you say. But you're right. Comes a point when you throw in the towell. Mata is strange. At times he looks class, other times he's anon. But he's about the only one to open teams up. SAys it all when we're still playing bosingwa and malouda ffs....

Quote by STEVECFCfuck the dross off and pay big for Modric or Hazard ... Torres needs supply ..
Deluded mate... he could have the best supply in the world and he'd still be utter dogshit. If you try and build your team around him you'll end up pissing a great deal more than £50m up the wall.
horseshit - his injuries have set him back , but you dont just lose all the quality he had .. he does lack confidence , watch Chelsea , Torres , week in week out , & you'll see the way he plays is ok , the service at the moment is shite .. form is tempory , class is permanent ...
sometimnes I think it's easy to give up , rather than percivire , managers sacked too soon , so no , think he needs longer .. has fuck all to do with what he cost , not like I paid for him .. think we'll never agree here , going round and round .. :)
Chelsea need to stick with him, personally think he will come good once gets run of games and gets confidence back in front of goals. He's never been an out and out goal scorer.
Well, I tell them there's no problem Only solutions
Eye's right, skin back tight, bollocks to the front, we're the boy's who make more noise when we're on the cunt, we're the riders of the night, and we'd rather fuck than fight, we're the riders of the Clock end Highbury
Draw fair result. Howard Webb gave alot of baffling decisions against both teams but two very soft penalties to United but should have been pen in first half for trip on Wellbeck. Rooney was top drawer today , one of his best performances playing just behind the front striker. Very intelligent use of the ball and seems to be keeping his temper under control better.
Well, I tell them there's no problem Only solutions
Rooney deserved man - of - the - match .. immense performance , Utd played Chelsea completely off the pitch .. poor game from Webb .. Torres , oh dear .. And to be honest how we scored 3 goals I'll never know , just can't see where we can get goals from , attacking football has deserted us , no invention ..
Thought the second pen was the epitome of modern day football...forward kicks defenders foot and goes down. Meanwhile, both teams are holding shirts and pushing every corner but nothing. Given our team and manager, I'd have taken your arm off for a point beforehand. How Utd didn't win was beyond me. Bosingwa an malouda are two of the worst players in football. And the manager.....thought hooking sturridge and keeping malouda on was a master stroke..... We'll not make top 4 this season. Roll on Europa league.....

difference for me , was Utd played football the way it should be played , and we adopted our usual pass a thousand times in midfield , then whack the ball inot the crowd .. I was all for AVB when he came , but the tactics he now adopts is preventing me from watching / enjoying my club ... we are sterile and in all honesty boring .. I don't get it - he was brought in to produce the Barca'esque style of football .. all we are good for is bore-draws ..
STeve, I'll be honest. I thought tHe appointment was a car crash. No walk of life does the office junior or apprentice come back 5 years later as manager. ONce appointed, I'm in the give him a chance camp, but there comes a point when you have to admit its been a mistake. I don't see enough to convince me he's a special manager in the making. A stint at porto don't mean he's Mourinho....wish we'd gone with someone like moyes. At least I'd be happy he's the right appt.

look at the money though Glenn , spent so much to get him , be suprised he'll go .. the transfer deadline for me was interesting though .. blatently obvious we need certain players yet none really came in .. one a loan , another was our usual balls up till he signed .. love Guus or Jose back ...
