I got my daughter an i-phone 4s for her birthday and scince getting it ( her contact is unl calls and txts , 1gb data ) her bills have been £183 !!! and £93 , the larger one was because we were away in Portugal and i forgot to set up a data bundle . her monthly contract is £36 .
All her charges are for data usage , to go over 1gb seems alot of usage to me , it seems like she is always connected ??
to me shes using it wrong ? does the phone connect automatically and disconnect when you finish using the internet ? or do you have to manually do it .
we went with 3 , £36 month gives unlimited data , been stung with that before , my brothers lad ran up a bill close to 500 notes .. Unlimited data only way to roll ...
She must be constantly connected. Apps like live wallpaper, emails, facebook, twitter will constantly update. She could also be using Youtube, BBC iplayer, Sky go, etc which take up a shitload of data. Perhaps ask her to download using WIFI instead.
1gb Is used in no time. I use 3g and have unlimited data. I still get stung by being charged for a download sometimes!! Or my daughter's text overseas, or with a free game they upgrade to the paid version. Most games I removed due to this. There should be an App to stop this happening but they might charge us for using that App... Smart Ass Phones I renamed them!!
use wifi is the first thing. follow nuno's advice is the second. there are apps which scan for free wifi - get one of those. also ring the network company and start crying, sometimes they knock money off. you should probably beat her as well. just to be sure
My mate who's brother is gay had two bills on consecutive months, one was £1500 and one was £1000, He was up all night ringing gay chat lines, This was before he came out so his dad just paid it thinking it would ease the process, couldn't make it up !!

A month that was but its still about £50 quid per day !! Unreal !!
I'm not a massive fan of the customer service at 3 but for an extra £3 a month you get unlimited data. That is a great deal really but if you've just signed a new contract guess that doesn't help - unless you can get her a new contract and take on hers yourself.
Seems outrageous that. I get 600mb of data per month and I'm constantly on the internet, all day every day, and never manage to go over. I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 so maybe it's just an iPhone thing, but I'd say she'd have to be roaming Gambian dating websites in her sleep for that bill!
