Tried plenty of real ale in my time, but I'm not an aficionado so I couldn't tell you what I thought was good or not. It's nowhere near as popular up here in Glasgow as it is down south.
My Ma and Da ran a pub in the Highlands up until last year that won CAMRA pub of the year for their region - not a bad achievement considering that when they took the gaff over, Belhaven told them that they wouldn't sell fuck all.

U can bezz, but imo, its a piss poor ale. Tastes like wedding beer to me.

Im only used to quality beer though mate, as I normally drink in the home of good beer, Sheffield.
Ahh, I always try out beer mixes...usually beer + beer, though a South African friend gave me an IPA/Buttermilk mix that I thought would be god awful...it wasn't, but I won't do it again.
