Saw on teletext today that 700 professional players released/contracts expired - only a quarter of them have since found clubs. Hell of a lot left. Must a fookin shitter having plied your trade for x many years and then find nowt at the end of it... saying that sounds like a similar story to anyone with a job.
Matthew Upson and Thomas Hitzlsperger both available - surely some premiership team will snap them up?
Weve looked at both Upson and Hitzlsperger and i dont think either would be bad signing for mid-lower teams in the Prem. Hargreaves would be another one if he stays fit but looks like theres a chance he may go to the shit. Bet theres a few more quality players knocking about still without clubs.
Yeah wages is the big stumbling block for us, were still not prepared to pay loads on wages for players like other prem clubs are which im happy about as i think thats one of the things thats made us one of the best run clubs in the country. I know Hitzlsperger has already been for talks at the club but wanted to see what other offers were available first, he would be a good signing but theres questions about his fitness as well. Would probably be happy with both but wouldnt be gutted if we missed out on them either.
