I'd always been a petrol head, but I got tricked into buying a diesel this time, the better mpg and low tax swung it for me. I've just past our local Shell garage and diesel is 5p a ltr dearer than petrol. Back in the day diesel was almost half the price of petrol as it was cheaper to refine, explain that one away?!?!
Just changed my company car recently and I've stuck with diesel. Twats have you over a barrel no matter what way you go. Mind you motorway I'm getting 50mpg from my E220d AMG which isn't too shabby.

You're not wrong diesel used to be way cheaper than petrol. Just another rip off that's gone unnoticed?
Cost me a bloody fortune if I drove a petrol car so diesel all the way for me, get around 50 mpg could get more if I drove a bit more conservatively
